Remember Tufail

*As-Salām, As-Salām! Ai Shaheedo, As-Salām!*

June 11, 2010, is now etched into the memory of the Kashmir conflict – the day Tufail Mattoo was killed. More than 10 years have passed. Instead of his killers, his lawyer, Miyan Qayoom, is in jail right now.

Tufail was one of the 120 civilians killed in the 2010 Kashmiri intifada. In 2010, it all began in May, when Indian soldiers killed three villagers in Kalaroos. The men were initially branded as “terrorists” but subsequently it was revealed that soldiers had killed innocent villagers/civilians in cold blood.

10 years have passed. No one has been punished. All we can say is this:

When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.
